Staff of the Shymkent City Museum of Victims of Political Repression Visit the ALZHIR Museum

On February 24, 2022, the ALZHIR Museum and Memorial Complex hosted a meeting with staff of the Shymkent City Museum of Victims of Political Repression to exchange experience. The program included a tour of the "Alash" and "ALZHIR" halls, a screening of the documentary "The Bitter Cold of ALZHIR," and an introduction to the work of the records and storage department and the research and tour-and-exhibition departments. The signing of a cooperation memorandum is also planned. As a keepsake of the museum, the guests were given the collections of memoirs of women prisoners of the ALZHIR camp and their descendants, "ALJІR. Qorqinisti tustey…Kak strashnyi son…" and "Descendants Remember" ("Pomnyat potomki"), as well as the catalog "Elbasynyn bastamasymen ashylghan edi" ("It Was Opened on the Initiative of the Leader of the Nation"), published on the basis of materials from the main and research support collections of the ALZHIR Museum.
