In 2007, a monument by the well-known sculptor Tokhtar Yermekov was erected at the intersection of Bogenbai Batyr and Saryarka avenues in memory of the great military commander.

The monument to Bogenbai Batyr stands on a very busy avenue and is a bronze sculpture of the commander on a tall granite pedestal. The monument is more than 11 meters high.

The sculptor managed to convey the commander's strength of spirit. The equestrian statue is 6.3 meters high. The legendary commander's gaze is directed forward, and his right hand is raised as if halting an enemy army. In his left hand the batyr firmly holds a sword. The composition also embodies a gesture of openness and readiness for good neighborliness.

Kanzhygaly Bogenbai Batyr was a Kazakh national hero, a great Kazakh military commander, and commander-in-chief of the armies of the three Kazakh zhuzes. He never suffered a single defeat in his military career, which included 103 battles.

Bogenbai Batyr fought for the independence of the Kazakh people all his life, showing boundless courage in battles with the Dzungar invaders. The batyr is buried in Turkestan, in the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi.

In difficult times of trial, the Kazakh people found political and military leaders whose deeds and feats earned the people's unprecedented faith in themselves as a whole, and who justified that faith. The great Bogenbai Batyr was one of these military strategists.
