"April 18 Is the International Day for Monuments and Sites"

The International Day for Monuments and Sites is observed every year on April 18.

The International Day for Monuments and Sites is observed every year on April 18. This day, also known as World Heritage Day, was established in 1982 by the Assembly of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), created under UNESCO, to draw public attention to the protection and preservation of the world's cultural heritage.

On the eve of the International Day for Monuments and Sites, we would like to remind the public once again how relevant and high-priority the tasks of protecting, studying, preserving, and promoting our country's historical and cultural heritage are.

The motto of the International Day for Monuments and Sites is "Let us preserve our historical homeland."

Historic Monuments Day concerns all of us, everyone who cherishes their history and culture, and who values the past and studies it. Our country has a very rich history that has left us a unique historical and cultural heritage. Kazakhstan has a great number of monuments and historic sites, many of which are widely known around the world and are regularly visited by tourists from every corner of our planet.

It is good that our calendar of commemorative dates includes holidays that remind us of the need to preserve the landmarks that belong to the present and the future. For our part, we will be the keepers and defenders of the historical and cultural heritage of our country.
