About us Saken Seifullin Museum
Saken Seifullin Museum

The museum was opened on January 21, 1988, based on the decree of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR. The Saken Seifullin Museum is located in a building representing an example of wooden architecture from the late 19th century. This house was built in 1846 by one of the representatives of the merchant class in Akmolinsk and was used as a warehouse for storing purchased goods. From 1920 to 1930, the distinguished Kazakh writer Saken Seifullin lived and worked in this building, whose role in shaping modern Kazakh literature cannot be overstated. Therefore, this place has a special significance for our country. Before 1988, the building was used as a kindergarten.

The second building is the administrative building of the museum. Initially, it was the house of Dr. Fedor Ivanovich Blagoveshchensky, who lived here and treated patients for about 40 years. This building is also a monument of wooden architecture from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, executed in the eclectic style characteristic of that time. In the past, there was a school for accountants here, and now it houses the administration of the Saken Seifullin Museum.

The exposition of the Saken Seifullin Museum is located in six halls and includes more than 7,000 exhibits, mainly consisting of the writer's personal belongings, books, photographs, letters, manuscripts, archival documents, as well as paintings and sculptures dedicated to the life and work of Saken Seifullin.
